Both Democratic presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, were busy campaigning this past weekend for crucial votes in Indiana and North Carolina, where primary elections will be held Tuesday. Hillary’s husband, and former President, Bill Clinton visited two North Carolina churches this morning, one being a United Pentecostal Church. During his visit to the Pentecostal Church, Clinton asked the congregation to pray for his wife.

The Pentecostal Church first learned of the visit when Clinton’s office contacted the Pastor of the Church of Pentecost, Rev. Brent Keating, on Friday to ask permission to attend. With only a couple of days to prepare, the church was busy during the weekend preparing for the former President’s visit.
During his brief visit to the church, Clinton spoke of his long relationship with Pentecostal churches, thanking them for all the support they have given him over the years.

The congregation listened attentively as Clinton told stories of his relationship with Pentecostal churches over the years. Clinton even spoke about how Barbara Streisand was inspired to record her first spiritual album after listening to a Pentecostal singer who performed at Clinton’s mother’s funeral.
Clinton never asked the congregation to vote for his wife, instead, he asked them to pray for her.
“I didn’t come here to ask you to vote for my wife,” said Clinton, “I came here to ask you to pray for her and to vote. Do whatever you want. Show up. Our country is in dire distress.”
“I just want you to pray for her and to make your voices heard,” he added. “Do whatever you think is right. But don’t sit this out, because we are being called upon to return to our true purpose.”

Clinton also visited Biltmore Baptist Church in Arden, N.C., but did not address the congregation.
Pastor Brent Keating told us that he did have a few minutes to speak with the President privately before he went into the service. The President arrived with what he estimated to be about eight secret service agents. The President sat next to his parents, Rev. A.B. and Sister Keating, for most of the service.
