Gunman opens fire at a church festival

Saturday evening, a gunman with a rifle opened fire at at St. John Baptist de la Salle Parish in the Granada Hills area of Los Angeles, California. The intended victim was apparently the gunman’s 30-year-old ex-girlfriend.  She and two other victims were shot – both males ages 45 and 47. Two are in stable condition, and one is in critical condition.

The church festival did have security present, but they were apparently not armed. The gunman was reportedly tackled by several witnesses who were also volunteers at the festival. The suspect was apparently reloading when he was subdued by the vigilant bystanders.

The suspect will be charged with three counts of attempted murder, and possibly other charges.
