84th UPCI General Conference Begins

15 10 2008

The Koury Convention Center and the Greensboro Coliseum will be filled with UPC Apostolics today through Sunday. You can learn more by visiting the official website of the General Conference. You can click here to catch some the services streamed live on the internet.

As with any General conference there are already many rumors flying around. There’s the rumor that an encumbant secretary may resign for personal reasons. And people are curious who will be elected to fill the editor-in-chief spot left open by the untimely death of Bro. Robert Fuller. The biggest rumor of all is still that Sarah Palin might make an appearance at the conference Thursday night. She will be speaking at Elon University Thursday afternoon, just a few miles from Greensboro. so who knows…

We will continue to keep you informed of any major developments. You can check out this site for live blogging from the conference.

Sarah Palin Possibly to Visit UPCI General Conference

13 10 2008

Sara PalinThe NC District Superintendent, David Elms, announced in at his home church in Charlotte, NC one week ago Sunday morning that it was a possibility that Sarah Palin would speak at Thursday night’s service.  Though it was still being discussed at that point, there was one confirmed report circulating the district that the Republican Vice-Presidential nominee would attend.

Daniel Mendoza of lookupsocial.com and part time contributor to AR has been working hard to see if this might really be a possibility. He says that as of last night, it was still unconfirmed that Sarah Palin would attend.  While her website does mention that she will be in Greensboro that same day for a fundraiser, it remains to be seen whether she will attend.  He speculated that her campaign may feel that they already have “our” vote and chose to turn their focus elsewhere.

This meetings are connected with the Apostolic Initiative which has already had several briefings at the White House in the last couple of years. According to their website, the vision of the Apostolic Initiative is, “To promote the Apostolic message and to represent in the halls of power the Apostolic groups and to see Apostolic youth given a vision and desire to one day hold key political office.”

4 04 2008

WPFLargeThe World Wide Pentecostal Fellowship began it’s first official conference April 1st, 2008. This three day event was held in Branson, MO.

“Stronger Together” was the theme of the conference and it focused on members of the ministry and their families. The convention center at the Hilton was almost full on the first evening of the conference.

WPF is a fellowship and not an organization. However, from the events of the past few days, it would be a fair assessment to say that the WPF is a very “organized” fellowship.
